What Are Service Lines and Focus Areas?

Service lines determine the directory pages your company will appear on to help buyers find your company — focus areas highlight your company’s specific expertise within the broader service lines.

Use service lines and focus areas to optimize your Clutch profile and attract potential customers looking for a partner that aligns with your company’s work experience.

Selecting Service Lines

Service line selections determine where your company will appear across Clutch directory pages and communicate your company’s specialities to potential customers.

To optimize your profile’s service lines, we suggest:

  • Identifying a minimum of 2 and no more than 6 service lines to display on your profile to help maximize your visibility across those pages
  • Limiting any single service line to 70% of your profile’s allocation
  • Avoiding service lines that include the word “other”

We recognize that your company may offer a broader range of services, but we encourage you to highlight the most relevant and high-priority areas you specialize in. Choosing fewer, more accurate service lines helps ensure your company appears in the most relevant directories and improves the quality of matches with potential clients.

Adding Focus Areas

After determining your service lines, you’ll be prompted to share focus areas for each service to more deeply showcase your company’s expertise within the broader service.

Here are some tips for choosing focus areas:

  • Highlight the focus areas that are most important to your company
  • Align your focus areas with examples of your work added to your profile’s portfolio section
  • Avoid focus areas that include the word “other”
